Carbon neutral.

At A. Paton Opal we are passionate about the outdoors. We love emercing ourselves in natural environments and wholeheartedly believe in the importance of preserving them for generations to come.

That’s why we have partnered with Ecologi to become a climate positive workforce. Not only does every item sold result in a tree being planted, but we are now proud to say we have reached carbon neutrality.

The work that Ecology does, in conjunction with Eden Reforestation Projects, is undoubtly paramount, but for A. Paton Opal we want to do even more. We want to go above and beyond. We want to get our hands dirty, we want we want to start a reforestation project of our very own and we want to share our knowledge and experiences with you.

Follow our journey as we, together, give back to this amazing land.

Jewellery production.

Current jewellery production practices are dire for the environment and basically this comes down to one core reason - it is extremely difficult to create sustainable jewellery. Therefore, although we can’t completely transform how we manufacture, we can commit to achieving sustainability by switching to renewable energy sources and offsetting our carbon emissions.

Australian opal.

In this climate, where consumers are looking for gemstones which are natural, untreated and ethically sourced, Australian opal shines strongly, being one of the most responsibly sourced gemstones available. The finite Australian opal resource, which has been mined now for more than 100 years, has forced opal miners to be more efficient with their prospecting, mining and processing.
